21st May 1936-15th July 2019
I am very sad to announce that Soke Richard Morris 10th Dan, founder and senior Instructor of Jiu-Jitsu International died on Monday 15th July 2019.
Jiu-Jitsu and the martial arts world in general has lost one of it’s last true masters.
It has been my privilege and honour to have been taught and graded by Soke Morris.
Myself and my students will miss his leadership Guidance and his vast knowledge and skill, he has left a hole that can not be filled.
I will always have gratitude for the things he taught me and my respect for the man himself will always be there.

Kenjutsu And Jo Course
On Sunday 5th August 2012 Milton Keynes Jiu-Jitsu hosted a Kenjutsu and Jo course run by Renshi Rob Brettell 5th Dan Jiu-Jitsu.
The course was aimed mainly at students that had very little or no experience in training with Bokuto (wooden swords) but had shown an interest in learning.
The techniques were kept very basic and at the end of the session Renshi Brettell recommended that any of the students that were interested in taking this training further should look for a club near them on the British Kendo Association website.

Junior Club Waiting List
For safety reasons I am limited to the amount of students that I can have on the mat at any one time.
Due to the popularity of the junior club at the moment I have had to start a waiting list of children waiting for places.
New students are still welcome to come along and watch to see if Jiu-Jitsu is what they are looking for and if so have their names put onto the waiting list or if they contact me with their details I will add their names.
I am sorry that we have had to do this but the safety of the students comes first.

Senior Training
Starting January 2012 the senior club will be open on Thursday evenings as well as Tuesdays.
Thursday training will be from 8.15pm until 10.15pm.
The extra evening session is subject to attendance, if there are not enough students turning up to warrant the extra session then it will close.

Dan Grade Promotion
In December 2008, Soke Richard Morris (10th Dan) Graded Renshi Colin Wood from 4th Dan, to 5th Dan, and promoted him from the title of Renshi to the title of Shihan.
Gladiators and stuff
The junior students that are invited to attend the extra training sessions are going to be given the opportunity to do gladiator fighting (using padded staffs while balancing on a stand) on a regular monthly basis.
The club has purchased new head guards along with body armour to make this as safe as possible for the students, in addition we will also be supplying gloves and gum shields to all the students taking part.
We hope that if this is success we will be able to develop it on to include other weapons as well as using the pads for some free sparring.
Shihan Colin Wood.
Soke Richard Morris
Shihan Wood and all the students and Instructors from Milton Keynes Jiu-Jitsu would like to congratulate Soke Richard Morris on his promotion to 10th Dan, a well deserved promotion given to the best Jiu-Jitsu Instructor that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting or training with, I hope that we have many more years of his leadership and instruction.
